Steel
by Monique Julien
| Where is the end to all the pain? Where is the cease of sorrow? Where is the comfort of my lover's arms? Where is the love I had only a moment ago? The cold hands of grief wrap their fingers around my throat, choke my cries for help with its cold steel grip. Crushes the life out of my heart, while sorrow fills the space that happiness held. Drowns the joy from yesterday, and smothers the happy memories. Leaving only the ones that pierce like sharp thorns in my heart, with every dig screaming that I am alone.
