From far below him, at the bottom of this dark pit he could hear a tiger who had the misfortune to have also fallen into this same pit before the man had fallen into it. If the man was to struggle to untangle the vines he would fall to the bottom where the tiger was waiting. If he was to try to climb out of the pit he would be where the leopard was waiting.

As the man hung there upside down he noticed that honey bees had made a hive in the wall of the pit not far from where he was dangling by his one foot. The bees must have been there for some time now because the hive was full of honey. So full, in fact, that drops of honey were dripping slowly from the bottom of the hive.
