The Wood Nymph

Happiness is elusive, like a wood nymph.
A teasing glance from behind the tree, dancing almost close enough to touch, then gone... to be seen again in the glade.
Who knows where I will find it next? I try to guess, try to meet it behind the daisys - certain that this is the next place Happiness would appear, but then I see it near the thistles, tickling their prickly tops, laughing at me for my foolishness.

There! I see it down the path, perhaps if my feet could fly I could get there before it escapes me yet again. I get to the clearing where last I saw my little nymph, and there I see the most surprising thing.

There in the forest I see my friend, sitting on a log in the clearing holding Happiness in his arms, waiting for me.

"I was leading you here." Says the little nymph, "Happiness is always found in the embrace of a friend."
