1.2meg - Classic 60's music by The Surfaris with SFX added.  Frequently mistaken as a Ventures tune. This one is for the hotrod enthusiasts out there who miss the 'pony cars' of the 60's.

Description: Demonstration file to show what an extreme resequencing can sound like from the start to finish. This music starts as two pianos for four hands then I eventually add strings and a bass harmonica, a marimba lead and take out both pianos.  The marimba changes to a trumpet lead and eventually the trumpet becomes a fiddle with no pianos, these instruments continue playing for some time then I put the bass piano back in and take out the fiddle.  The lead piano begins to play again and after losing the strings it is back to two pianos for four hands to finish the piece with the instruments as they were when we began resequencing the MIDI file.

Scott Joplin's piano roll music is now a part of the The National Recording Registry 2002 (#5) of the USA Library of Congress created to preserve "...collections of sound recordings that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant...".

MP3/WMA musical ringtones recorded at CD-Audio quality. This is music created by MIDI and wavetable synthesis. All of this music is digitally reproduced synthesized music using computer hardware and software. No musicians or musical instruments were harmed in any way in order to produce these recordings. Recordings are made of the MIDI music files using over 40 megabytes of sound samples including the Roland TR808 drumset and other percussion sound samples. The MP3 files here are original arrangements of  familiar MIDI tunes.

I recommend using headphones connected to your soundcard when listening to these samples or an above average set of computer speakers. The sound has quite a range and fidelity that will `buzz' an inadequate speaker system. These are recorded as stereo CD audio, not as computer system `tunes'.

Unable to stream this audio?  Many of the original MIDI files used to create the highly optimized streaming recordings are available on another webpage on this same server. The majority I have tweaked a bit, some are the originals as I found them on other websites. None are identical to the recordings here, and they will be using your soundfonts in place of mine. NYTimes : Universal to Cut Prices of Its CD's (09-04-2003)
Battered by online piracy, the Universal Music Group, the world's largest record company, said yesterday that it would cut prices on compact discs by as much as 30 percent in an aggressive attempt to lure consumers back into record stores. The deep price cut, the only one to apply to new CD's since the format was introduced in the early 1980's, represents a gamble by Universal that more consumers will buy more CD's once the price dips below $13.

Some of the research on older consumers shows that "not finding what they want is more of a reason for not buying than pricing," said Russ Crupnick, vice president of the NPD Group, a market research firm. "They still need to put out content that's appealing to people," he said, referring to the record companies.

BBC's Graham Chapman: "In late September (2002) five music companies and three music retailers were fined more than $143 million after being found guilty of fixing CD prices too high."

For W9x - XP users who want optimum sound quality of these music files I recommend getting the freeware XMPlay MP3 player.  XMPlay v3.2 is 310k installed.  No modifications are made to your registry.  Removal is as simple as deleting the files.  XMPlay has a much 'cleaner' sound than any I've tried, you won't want to delete it.  The author: "XMPlay is a Windows music player, supporting the CDA / MP3 / WMA / OGG / MP2 / MP1 / WAV / WMA / MO3 / IT / XM / S3M / MTM / MOD / UMX audio formats, and PLS / M3U / ASX playlists.  A load more formats are also supported via Winamp plugins".  Drag and drop music links onto the player in it's always-on-top mode to stream the file! XMPlay will do ramping of the audio - maintains an even loudness automatically with auto fade-in and fade-out (optional).  XMPlay does not support the RealAudio music file format (the 50 meg player install - argh!).
